CSTE’s Applied Epidemiology Fellowship (AEF) places recent master’s or doctoral-level epidemiology graduates at the state or local level, in an effort to “meet the nation’s ongoing need for applied epidemiology workforce capacity.” Fellows meet in Atlanta in the summer of their first year for a comprehensive orientation—including professional headshots. I photographed the seventeen Class XVII fellows in a whirlwind 90 minute session, with five minutes allotted per person.
In lieu of a backdrop rental, I photographed everyone against a bare wall, later adding the blue hue in post. I also edited out stray hairs, whitened teeth, and removed blemishes where appropriate. Off-camera flashes were used for a key and back light, respectively.
