This monthly web series was created for internal use to teach campus employees about key concepts in the division’s mission and vision statements. Unfortunately, the concept was deemed too similar to another popular web series, and the university was hit with a DMCA takedown notice on YouTube. This served as an important lesson in intellectual property law, fair use, parody, and other aspects of the 21st century digital landscape.
I was fully responsible for the series—script writing, set and prop construction, cinematography, editing, animation, directing, talent scheduling, and more. This was my first-ever signature project, and wrapped up after nine videos in total. Despite the IP challenges, it was a fantastic experience getting to produce something with that much creative control.
